Maruthupandiyar Fort, also known as the Fort of the Marudu Brothers, is located at Aranmanai Siruvayal in Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, between Kalaiyarkoil and Kallal.The site was an important base for Periya Marudu and Chinna Marudu during their struggle against the British East India Company in the late 18th century.Historical records say the fort and village fell to the British on 30 July 1800, and later the remains of the fort were preserved as a protected monument.Today, the fort is visited by history lovers, students, and tourists interested in Tamil Nadu’s freedom struggle and Maruthu brothers’ legacy.
