On festival day,Puravis are carried shoulder-borne in a loud procession with drummers, kummi/kuthu attam performers and local folk artists over distances from a few hundred metres up to several kilometres.At the shrine puravis are placed near the deity, special pujas (pongal, archanai, deepaaradhanai) are performed and devotees complete their vow ceremonies.Community feasts, folk shows and ritual consecration of the puravis finish the event.
