Visit Thirukostiyur, the sacred Divya Desam in Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, known for the unique Sowmya Narayana Perumal Temple, Ramanuja’s legacy, and Vaishnava heritage.The temple is associated with the legend of Hiranyakashipu and the Narasimha avatar, and it is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Sri Vaishnavites.The temple’s history is layered, with its core believed to have been built by the early Pandya kings, likely between the 6th and 9th centuries. Over the centuries, it received additions and renovations from later rulers, including the Chola, Later Pandya, Vijayanagara, Nayak, and other local dynasties.In traditional temple lore, Brahma is said to have instructed Vishwakarma to construct the three-tier temple structure at this site after the Hiranya Samhara episode.
